Never thought we’d get here. This seemed to be a particularly long week. Despite being busy nearly every day and going home good and wiped out, this week still feels as if it should’ve ended two days ago. This is the second week in a row where my wife told me on Wednesday that it felt like it should have been Thursday. Is time slowing down? During the week yes, but Saturday and Sunday will be gone in the blink of an eye.
We had a handful of cool mornings and days over the last two weeks, but Summer wasn’t done with us yet. Much like the serial killer at the end of an 80s slasher movie, Summer just keeps getting up and making a fool of itself. Yesterday was a balmy 84 degrees, and the inside of the house was almost 78 degrees by the time I got home from work. I almost caved and turned on the AC, but knew that by 9pm the temp was dropping significantly. It’s a chilly 59 degrees now, and by the time I get home today the house is going to be a nice, cool, fall-like temp.
Our oldest and their partner are coming up from Indianapolis tomorrow. They have a birthday party to go to at 4pm, but they’re going to show up at our place around 11am. I’m going to make brunch for us all(biscuits and gravy, home fries, French toast, fresh strawberries). Our hair stylist daughter is going to cut the oldest’s hair as well. They’re bringing their pooch Dot, so our Celeste will get to meet her. Not sure how that will go, but I’m sure it’ll be exciting either way.
In the evening my wife is helping out at a fundraiser at the Community Center where her office is. She’s done this the last couple of years. They have raffles, auctions, food, etc… So Saturday night it will be just me and Celeste hanging out, as our middle kid is going to Indy to spend the day with her brother and his girlfriend at their apartment. Gonna work on my music room a bit, hanging art and making it “my” space, as it were. I want to do some more work on the album project as well. Of course, spin some tunes as well.
Next week I’ve got orientation for cardio rehab Tuesday morning. Wednesday I get labs done so they can check my kidney function. Apparently it was a little diminished the last blood test, so they cut my water pill down to half what I was taking. Then next Friday I go to Indy and my son and I are seeing The Bad Plus at the Jazz Kitchen. Very excited for that show. It’s the farewell tour. My wife couldn’t go as she has an early board meeting Saturday morning, so my son fortunately has the night off. Last concert we went to was Mastodon back in June of 2025, so this will be fun.
