Collin Gorman Weiland To Release ‘Now And Thus Suite’ June 25th; Listen To “Bird’s Desert Shadow”

The new album Now and Thus Suite from musician/producer/engineer Collin Gorman Weiland is a sublime and ethereal collection of new age/ambient songs that are reminiscent of classic private press releases of the 70s. I find myself getting lost in the hazy electronics and otherworldly mood of this 4-track LP. It’s the kind of album that lulls you into a peaceful state of mind; a spot in your subconscious where the outside world stays out, so that you can concentrate of some inner peace. Or at the very least turn off your worried mind for a bit.

Now and Thus Suite will be released in full on June 25th via the great Moon Glyph Records, a label Collin Gorman Weiland has worked with since the beginning of the label’s impressive run. Not only has the label released Gorman’s work in his bands Daughters of the Sun and Camden, Gorman has contributed to the overall sound of Moon Glyph Records as their regular mastering engineer.

Until the album’s full release, you can get a sneak peek of it’s sublime beauty with album track “Bird’s Desert Shadow”. A slow-moving song that opens and reveals itself over the course of 6 1/2 minutes. Despite its mysterious nature, the song glows with a “blue skies positivity”. That is, an unknown quality that promises a glorious and peaceful day as the track swells and wafts from the speakers. Like the best of private press in the 70s, “Bird’s Desert Shadow” benefits from an otherworldly glow. Organic and synthetic elements come together perfectly, revealing a world of sound that encapsulates positive energy and peaceful intents.

Here’s more about Now and Thus Suite via Moon Glyph Records:

With his latest, the “Now & Thus Suite”, Collin has recorded a very personal ambient drifter LP which harkens back to private press records. The sound is fuzzy and all-encompassing; combining roughly sewn synthesizers, manipulated piano, sampled orchestras and sermons alongside contributions from other Minneapolis heads such as Chris Farstad (555, Food Pyramid) on bansuri flute and Jason Edmonds (Magic Castles, Erros Mágicos) on singing bowls. The final album is immersive, billowing and otherworldly, a beautiful tribute to time and time’s past.
