Giallo Prog Duo Dressel Amorosi Return With ‘House of Dolls’, Out 10/24; Listen To “Octagon Tower”

My first experience with the Giallo/Prog duo Dressel Amorosi was 2018s excellent DeathMetha, a hypnotic and bloody slab of sleazy disco and late night panic. I didn’t hear the album proper till it was re-released on limited edition cassette via Spun Out Of Control in 2020. It touched on classic Giallo grooves and panic-laden tension all the while delivering their nightmare soundtrack with the heft of artists like Mike Oldfield, Alan Parsons Project, and Soft Machine. An imagined score with plenty of meat on the bones.

The duo of Heinrich Dressel (Valerio Lombardozzi) and Federico Amorosi give us a modern twist on the classic scores of Goblin and Fabio Frizzi, while giving everything an almost sensual feel. Amorosi’s incredible ever present basslines are the slinky spine to which their songs are built upon. Dressel hangs moody, engaging melodies in technicolor displays of blood reds, blues, and greens Dario Argento would approve of.

On Friday October 24th Dressel Amorosi return with the exquisite House of Dolls. House of Dolls will have you questioning whether you saw this film “back in the day” as musically it hits all the right nostalgia buttons. If you have seen it, it was probably just a fever dream as the concept is from the minds of Dressel Amorosi. But hit play on their new long player and you’ll be transported to the cursed, eerie world of House of Dolls via the duo’s intricate and engrossing album.

In front of the album’s release this Friday, Library of the Occult and Dressel Amorosi are thrilled to share “Octagon Tower”. This is the final single from the record following “Escape” and “Starlight”. From the eerie, mournful opening notes to the pulsating rhythm and retro synth touches this track is like opening the gates to some long lost and haunted manor found in some dense, dark forest. It feels like entering the very heart of House of Dolls, and all the tricky, dreamy, and hazy things that come with it.

Listen to “Octagon Tower” below, and then preorder Dressel Amorosi’s ‘House of Dolls’ over at Library of the Occult. And be prepared to take one of the most engaging and cursed rides of 2025 with Dressel Amorosi, ‘House of Dolls’, and Library of the Occult.
