Greetings.
Just a quick one to share yesterday’s vinyl haul from my friends at Karma Records of Warsaw. I was able to snag three out of the five records John at Karma had waiting for me. And when I mentioned what I was picking up I forgot one, Black Sabbath’s Sabbath Bloody Sabbath!
Black Sabbath : Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Long time coming adding this one to the collection. I’ve heard a couple songs off of it over the years, but never listened to it in its entirety(that I can remember.) Listened to it at work a couple weeks ago and I think this is the heaviest Ozzy Sabbath record for sure. Darkest, at least. Love it.
Chris Cohen : Paint a Room

I love this guy. Incredibly talented(multi-talented…he can play everything), and an amazing songwriter. Estute baroque pop that veers into jazz territory at times. Just a great artist and one hell of an album.
J.R.C.G. : Grim Iconic…(Sadistic Mantra)

Very new artist to me from the Pacific Northwest. Hard to describe, but I’m going to say that this guy is truly one of a kind. World music, post-punk, art rock, and experimental all rolled into one. This is one of those undefinable albums that in a decade people will be talking about, like Remain In Light or Chairs Missing. It’s a grower that might end up growing into one of my favorite albums of the year.
Hoping to pick up How To Destroy Angels and John Scofield next week.
Oh, and I’ve got a new cleaning method that I think is bulletproof for vinyl. Warm wash cloth with Dawn dish soap and you wipe both side down to get those particles out of the vinyl grooves. Then gently wipe down with a hand towel. Spray with some water in a spray bottle and wipe it again. Then spray the vinyl with some cleaning mixture(mine is isopropyl alcohol, distilled water, cleaning detergent) wipe that in, then dry with the hand towel. It works miracles on those dirty LPs. Even new ones can be pretty dirty.
Anyways, that’s my system and it works. First play you’ll get a little wad of fuzz on the needle. That’s all that stuff you worked loose. After that you’re golden, Pony Boy.
