Tangerine Dream : Raum

Tangerine Dream has evolved into something far more than just a band. From their beginnings in the late 60s as a German experimental electronic band to their meditative album side excursions in the 70s to the go-to soundtrack creators of the 80s, Tangerine Dream has seen evolution after evolution of sound, style, and mood. The […]

Sermons By The Devil : Below The Surface

The latest from the heavy synth project Sermons By The Devil comes at us in a subtle way. There’s a subdued quality in Below The Surface, a five-song mini-album that explores the juxtaposition between that 9 to 5 face we share in our everyday work life, and what happens when the front door closes and […]

Lisa Bella Donna : Moogmentum

The newest release from synth pioneer Lisa Bella Donna sees her paying tribute to another pioneer, Bob Moog. Lisa Bella Donna pays tribute by making an album of exquisite sonic tastes; a record created with the Moog at the heart of it. Moogmentum is a sonic journey that only requires an open mind and open […]

Bluetech : Underwater Cities

Bluetech works in the warm and inviting world of analog and modular synth music, going for more dance floor and techno vibes. The lush world that fills his albums feels like a sonic cleanser from the world outside; a circuital bath meant to wash away the negative static we encounter on a daily basis. On […]

Flatliner Drops Evocative “The Light Behind Your Eyes”

I do dig dance music, but there needs to be a human core under the techno grooves and vocoder narratives. When it’s strictly there to give you a beat to shake what the Lord gave ya I find it too empty to care about. There needs to be emotional intent. It’s like those trunk rattler […]

Portals : A Kosmiche Journey through Outer Worlds and Inner Space

Your eyes close and you float off. Somewhere dark but comforting. A strange glow surrounds, keeping you from disappearing into the abyss of space. Or time. Or both. Buzzes and blips of analog origin keep you company on this journey of self-exploration. A journey that feels deep, meaningful, and significant to finding the answers we […]

Portals is Coming

Once in a while something comes along and really gets my brain popping. The synapses spark, the pistons chug, and the mind gets to fully engaged mode. This new release coming from Behind The Sky Music in June is my current obsession, and I can’t wait to fully engulf myself in it. Portals: A Komische […]

Field Lines Cartographer : The Ferric Landscape

Mark Burford’s work as Field Lines Cartographer feels more like digging for fossils or mapping out new galaxies than just sitting and listening to an album. He creates a vast and strange musical landscape that is somewhere between meditative bliss and a frightening science fiction discovery. Songs slowly spread over time frames that cover from […]

Favorite Albums of 2017(so far) : Maine’s ‘V’

There’s been a gradual shift in my brain over the last few years to music that doesn’t necessarily tell a story through words more than through mood. Listen, I grew up devouring the Beatles, Rush, the Kinks, Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Wilco, and the list goes on. I was a song guy. I was moved by […]

One More F*****g Synthesizer Album

As if I didn’t have enough of these dated sounding synthesizer-heavy records, I had to go out buy one more. You know, I think if you threw these on the record player and played them for me blindfolded I wouldn’t be able to tell any of them apart. Why? Because once you’ve heard one antiquated […]
