D Ferren : Trials And Dusty Trails

by Mary Moore Photo by Ryan Hodges Photography Mary Moore is a supporter of the arts. She’s a giver of sunshine and a purveyor of the whimsical as well. She also loves music. Especially music of the local variety. She used to host both local and touring musicians at her home in the town of […]

For The Love Of Kevin Barnes : A Few Words On Of Montreal’s Svengali

I’m sitting in my living room after a couple beers and maybe a shot or two of Johnnie Walker Red and I’m on my second spin of the new Of Montreal long player Innocence Reaches. I’m once again in awe of the mighty and ADD-afflicted Kevin Barnes. This album seems to encapsulate all that is Kevin […]

A Soundtrack To Dreams : The Musical World of Landing

Feature photo by Susan Mclean Sometimes the best thing is right in your own backyard. What do I mean? Well take music for example. You go through phases where you feel you’ve found all the great bands you’re going to find. You’ve combed the great musical landscape over and over again and have come up […]

Living Textures : A Musical Conversation With Causa Sui

by J. Hubner Photos courtesy of El Paraiso Archives A little over two years ago a friend pointed me in the direction of Copenhagen, Denmark. That friend said “Head east, and ye shall find the rock.” I wasn’t sure what that meant as my friend rarely said things like “ye” and “head”, but I […]

Panic Music : Pentagram Home Video’s ‘Who’s Out There?’

Do you remember that obscure film Who’s Out There? from back in 1986. It was one of those sleazy, creepy flicks released by Pentagram Home Video. According to the info found on Pentagram Home Video’s archived web page: “There are many rumours about the production of the 1986 film ‘Who’s Out There’ but information is […]

Night Music : The Seductive Sounds of Miles Brown

I’ve been a fan of Miles Brown for over two years now. It started with a friend telling me I should check out this band called The Night Terrors back in January of 2014. “I think you’ll dig them.” Well, he was well aware of my fondness for eerie synth music, all things gothic, and […]

New Tune : Jakob Skott’s “The Variable”

So not only does one of my favorite bands drop a new album this past Friday, their drummer is readying a new album for the end of April. Holy moly! Causa Sui have just released their new record, the mammoth chunk of molten rock called Return To Sky. That album is the grittiest, rawest form […]

Fine Art

So I took my son to the school art show today. Kids from all the local elementary schools had pieces put in by the art teachers. Or maybe it’s just one teacher for all the schools. I’m not sure. I know that according to popular belief and local school administration that sports is much more […]

Two Days Since A Lost Space/Time Accident

I’m man enough to admit it, my friend Thom turned me onto Flying Lotus. I fancy myself a guy that keeps up with music. I may not like a lot of what the majority masses pass as “good”, but I try at least to be aware of what’s happening outside my own four walls in […]

Blood In Blood Out

Roll The Dice. Now that’s an interesting band name. Really gives you plenty to go on, doesn’t it? So many connotations and directions you can head with a name like that. Now I didn’t pick up their album Until Silence because I thought their name was cool(which I did.) No sir, I picked it up […]
