Well it didn’t take long to catch one of the many awful viruses that are floating around. Started the week out okay coming back from the holiday break, but by Monday evening I started feeling sore all over. Muscles in my chest and back felt like I’d been used as a punching back, and my sinuses were getting plugged up and my ears were popping and ringing.
I knew strange things were afoot at the Circle K.
By Tuesday I was ache-y everywhere with a dry cough and drippy sinuses. Tuesday night I started running a fever, 99 or so, enough to make me feel like crap. Then yesterday at work my fever hit 99.5 and I just hurt everywhere. I did manage to get groceries after work but I was miserable the whole time. Last night I sat on the couch covered in a blanket and finished Dexter : Resurrection. Slept terrible, not being able to really fall asleep as I couldn’t breathe through my nose, plus my back was sore.
I ended up taking a sick day and am just going to rest today. No fever this morning, just some muscle soreness and stuffed up head. My wife had slept hard last night for a good 8 1/2 hours. When I finally rose from my sleep of the dead and came out to the living room I found her on the couch doing work from home. She said she was getting ready to leave when she realized her head hurt. Took her temperature and she was running a fever of 99.4. “You’re welcome, honey.”
I feel awful that she feels awful, but there was something in her being sick that made me feel slightly better in that it legitimized how crappy I felt. I was starting to think I was just full of crap, or that this wasn’t a flu but like I hurt myself internally or something. Nope, it’s a freaking virus to kick off the new year.
One great thing that happened this week was Monday when my brother texted me and told me that the tumors on his kidneys are benign. He just needs to go back once a year and get a scan to make sure they haven’t gotten any bigger. I guess maybe my body could finally relax after months of worrying for him, which let my guard down and hello new flu variant!
Alright, going to do some more writing. Not much in new music at the moment, so I’m going to revisit something from the past. And tomorrow I’m releasing that new album I was talking about. Excited for that.
Take care of yourselves, and get lots of vitamin C. Oh, and wash your damn hands!

Glad to hear about your brother. Sorry to hear about the virus. It is running rampant here. Uncle Meat is down with the sickness. Lots of my friends and co-workers are.
I used to get sick, really sick, 4 times a year on average. This changed after Covid when I started being more…reclusive. But now I work from home full time and the good thing is, I don’t seem to get sick anymore. Otherwise you and I would both have it.

I’m really glad you don’t have to deal with it nearly as much anymore. I was the same as you, where I’d get something nasty three or four times a year. But I rarely do anymore. Unfortunately when it does happen it usually is a doozy. I think staying home today will go far in helping me get over it. Work is hectic and kind of a drag anymore so it only goes to make me worse.

Thanks fella. Yeah this kind of blows, but hopefully it’ll leave as quick as it came.
“Creeping Death” has always been my theme for whenever I would get sick. It’s fitting. 😂
