Brown County Hiking Trip Day Two : Brown County State Park and the Trail of Tears

Day two of the fellas hiking trip started out grand. Woke at 6 am and had western omelettes, toast, and a couple mugs of cafe bustello Espresso roast. By 8:30 am we were on the road to Brown County State Park. It was only 5 minutes from the cabin, so in moments we were hitting the trails.

Today was the opposite of yesterday. We ended up getting lost on interconnecting trails within the woods and took a 6 mile death march through darkened trails and darkening spirits. By the time we reached a road and we’re out of the woods we had another 3 miles to walk in order to reach the car.

By the time we made it back to my friend’s Nissan we’d been in the woods for four hours. Our feet, ankles, and hips were screaming due to the steep inclines; not only the harrowing trails but the 3 mile trek back to civilization from the trail to the car.

Needless to say, we were fried. Check out the photos below.

  1. Well a 3 hour detour can happen at times. Glad you found your way back as its easy to get twisted around as it happened to me my wife this past winter snow shoeing. lol. We went 90 minutes of course but found our way back lol
