Chill in the air

Today truly feels like the arrival of “real” fall, as opposed to the previous “fake” fall days that we’ve been dealing with on and off since September. You know, those days that are like a glimpse behind the curtain to what fall has in store for us. But then the next day it’s 85 degrees […]

Boards of Canada season is officially here. Rejoice.

Despite the fact that the great Scottish band Boards of Canada are perfect for year-round listening experiences, fall feels like the “official” Boards of Canada season. There’s something about their downtempo, low key, slightly psychedelic and slightly haunted sound that is perfect for overcast days. Slight chill in the air, a brisk wind that picks […]

Sick in the head…and arms, legs, back, shoulders, etc….

I love fall. I don’t love cold and flu season. They seem to walk hand in hand like the ying and yang of life. I wish we could move cold and flu season to, say, just a two week span in March then it goes away. Unfortunately I don’t have a say in when viruses […]

Gloomy Friday

We’ve made it to another Friday. It’s the working persons favorite day of the week. That is, unless you work one of those 4 day on, 3 day off schedules, then I have no idea what your favorite day of the week is. It’s definitely mine, followed shortly by Saturday. Sunday? Debatable. We’ve been in […]

Long Weekend, Under The Weather, Sad Dad Blues

Decided at the beginning of last week that I was going to treat myself to a four-day weekend. Work hasn’t been very busy, so it seemed like an opportune time to take a Thursday and Friday off and give my brain a break from the 9 to 5. I’d been itching to dig into some […]

Out With False Fall…In With Real Fall

Friday is here, finally. And with it comes the true beginning of fall weather. We’ve had a few days here and there of mild temps -including upper 50s and low 60s for highs- but those temps were short-lived. We’d head back up into the upper 70s and 80s with all the humidity you could ever […]

September Rolls…Cold Weather Break…License To Feel Ill…ETC

It’s been pretty mild temperature-wise here. The first part of September is giving us the gift of highs in the 60s/low 70s, and at night we’re hitting below 50 degrees. That’s…amore. We’re nearly 10 days into September and that train keeps rolling. Kids have been in school since mid August around here and that just […]

October Is Here, Spinning Spooky Scores, Happy Birthday Mr. Pooch McGooch…And New Music Soon

Well it’s been a really, really, really long and hot summer. I’ve never been one to resent hot days, but apparently at 50-years old I’ve become that person. I don’t care if it’s a dry heat or a humid heat, it’s not my friend. I’m sure that once we hit that first single digit day […]

Too Damn Hot, Van HaGar Cometh, Ready For Fall

We’ve been in the midst of a late summer heat wave and I’m not liking it. Tuesday was a nearly all-time record high around here, with the heat index getting to 105 degrees. Listen, if I wanted to fry my brain walking to and from my car I’d live in Arizona, Louisiana, or Florida. As […]

New Songs For Those Night Thrills

Before you could say “Please, no more music” I’m here dropping new music. Yes, I’m currently sitting on a back log of new music I recorded starting in October. If you’re paying attention I released a 4-song EP of instrumental music just a couple weeks ago, but those were all a year’s worth of music […]
