Set The World Afire

Just when you think you’ve gotten past one major calamity, of course another decided to pop up and say “Hold my beer…”. What’s going on in the country that I call home is beyond the pale. Armed, masked weekend warriors pulling brown-skinned people off the streets and disappearing them is really bad. For one it’s illegal, at least according to the Constitution(you know, that thing the Administration has been shitting all over for the past year.) Many would argue that is not true, but stereotypes and skin color are not considered probable cause.

Anyways, I’m not a Constitution scholar. I’m just a guy that got average grades in Government, and moderate ones in Ancient and Modern World History. But I’m sure those books I used would be considered “woke” these days as they talked about slavery and the Holocaust in frank and honest terms.

But then, oh boy, then to avoid anyone still discussing the fact that Trump was a VERY close friend to a child trafficker and rapist for YEARS(with photo and video proof to prove it), the US decides to start blowing up fishing boats near Venezuela saying they were stopping drugs from entering the country. Even going so far as to blow up two guys that were floating in the water afterwards. Then we invade Venezuela and kidnap their President and his wife. They arrest him for the same reason another South American president was arrested for, yet THAT guy was pardoned by Trump. Whaaaa???

The President tells the world that the US is running Venezuela now, and will be selling THEIR oil and Trump would be taking care of the profits. Meanwhile we left several other awful people in Venezuela that were in Maduro’s administration that were drug traffickers and murderers. So basically, we’re acting as pirates stealing booty from ships. And that booty is oil.

How is ANY of this legal? Our administration is run like some clandestine supervillain group, not by people that know how a government should be run.

The coup de grâce would be Wednesday, when an ICE agent shot a 37-year old mother of 3 in the face three times on a Minneapolis city street. I won’t bore you with a retelling of this blatant homicidal murder, but I’m sure you’re like me and saw all you needed to see and know that this agent was in zero clear and present danger and still shot her as she was trying to get away from these guys pulling her out of her car. And THEN called her a “fucking bitch” as her lifeless body careened in her Honda Pilot about 30 feet into a parked vehicle on the street.

Now, as horrible and horrifying as that was I think the most abhorrent thing about all of this is how the administration and these far right Christian extremists are tripping over themselves justifying this on the internet. The irony of right to lifers on social media saying “Too bad, she should have listened to the authorities”…and yet during 2020 they were ready to start WWIII because they were told not to gather in churches so their whole congregation wouldn’t get COVID and die is wild.

Then the conspiracy theorists started sharing information about how she was a paid agitator and Antifa brought her in to act as a domestic terrorist. JD”I fuck couches” Vance even called her a domestic terrorist. They kept pushing the narrative that the ICE agent was run over and in the hospital. So we’re now at Orwellian levels of denial here. Don’t believe your eyes or the news…just believe what your government is telling you.

Even if she was a legal observer as so many have mentioned her to be, she was not breaking any laws. And once again, she was not threatening any ICE agents. Maybe mocking them, and treating them as they need to be treated. Let’s not forget, ICE has zero authority over American citizens. And as Americans it is our RIGHT to protest what we see as wrong. Remember, Trump let hundreds of criminals go that were arrested and convicted in a court of law for doing FAR WORSE on January 6, 2021. Killing and injuring actual law enforcement, not guys cosplaying as Seal Team 6 in residential neighborhoods.

I watched a video of Jesse Ventura speaking on the lawn of Roosevelt High School, where he graduated and where ICE invaded after murdering Renee Good and pepper sprayed students and harassed staff. He said that America has become a third world country, and I think he’s right. We’ve gone from one of the greatest countries in the world to a Banana Republic, an insane and inept warlord “running things” while his staff of serpents and backstabbers whisper poisoned nothings into his ears. He has surrounded himself with hateful, braindead opportunists that will stop at nothing to turn our great country into their whites-only, Christian-only, gun-toting Nazi dystopia disguised in a bloodied American flag claiming it’s all for patriotism.

I blame ourselves for this. Ourselves being left-leaning folks that despite the writing on the wall we never thought nationalism and authoritarianism could possible reign supreme in the great United States of America. We got lethargic and stopped keeping an eye on the ball that was actually a spiked, radioactive meteor the size of Jupiter screaming down from the heavens at us. We let Steve Bannon weaponize gamers which in turn started Reddit pages and Youtube channels hosted by basement dwellers, incel gamers, and caustic narcissists that mind-fucked citizens that otherwise never gave a shit about politics. It was an audience ripe for the picking. We went from a President trying to make health insurance affordable for all to a guy making fun of a handicapped journalist in front of millions.

If there were legal means of ending all of this surely it would have happened by now. With everything this administration has done just in the last year(not counting his previous 4 years), why isn’t something being done? I feel like the dark powers that truly make the clock tick, the days pass, and know what’s really in that sausage we eat everyday, are getting exactly what they want. Chaos, disorder, chasm-deep divides, and the total mutative corruption of the Christian Right. Besides the stagnant Left, the Christian Right has the most blood on their hands now. What a bunch of brainless, spineless human excrement they have become. I already knew that religion is one of the biggest problems this world has had. Mind control and manipulation under both the fear of damnation and the excitement of eternal life.

If you are religious but still think this is all wrong then you are of the few in that category. I’ve seen devout reformed Baptists that are some of the most hateful anti-humanistic people that I’ve ever had the displeasure of encountering. Pastors, even. These people are living in a cult. The things they feel free to say about their fellow humans is appalling. If that’s what God’s love does to you, then no thanks.

It’s been a week. I was sick for two days, stuck home soaking in national tragedy and mindless violence, with seemingly a good chunk of the population okay with it. And now my government is pissing off the entire world, so my exit strategies are getting less and less possible.
