Psychic Shields VS Flesh-Eating Witches….GO!

Slasher Film Festival Strategy have taken up quite a bit of real estate up in my head since November of 2015. My first foray into the grimy and creepy world of SFFS was with the split they did with Antoni Maovvi. I was really impressed with what I’d heard on that three-song EP, so I […]

Slave To The Rewind : Thug Entrancer’s ‘Data Slave’

If you had told me a year ago I’d be getting all excited over a damn cassette tape I would’ve told you to jump back in that Delorean and get back to 1985. As it happens, I stand corrected. I mean, I’m not having some sort of cassette tape renaissance or anything. Sure, I’ve found […]

One More F*****g Synthesizer Album

As if I didn’t have enough of these dated sounding synthesizer-heavy records, I had to go out buy one more. You know, I think if you threw these on the record player and played them for me blindfolded I wouldn’t be able to tell any of them apart. Why? Because once you’ve heard one antiquated […]

Causa Sui : Return To Sky

There’s only a few instrumental outfits these days that pack as big a sonic punch as Causa Sui. These four guys from Denmark have been making trippy, mind-altering rock and roll for a few years now, and every time out they up their musical game a bit. They go from psychedelic, acid-fried drone(Pewt’r Sessions 3) […]

Soundtrack For A Panic Attack

So how often do you find yourself wondering what a panic attack would sound like as music? Would you think it would be something like Slayer’s “War Ensemble”, or Ministry’s “Psalm 69”? Or maybe something along the lines of eerie calliope music? Maybe Lou Reed’s “Metal Machine Music”? Before I’d ever heard The Haxan Cloak’s […]

Coffee and Donuts

Being somewhat incapacitated with the wonky back has shown me one very important thing and that thing is that I could get used to doing nothing. Man, what have I been thinking all these years with the constant motion of doing this or that? I always had to be doing something; clean the dirty dishes, […]

Thug Entrancer : Arcology

I think I’ve always liked electronic music in some form or another. From intros to 80s cartoons to being enamored by Kraftwerk’s “Autobahn” at the age of 9, there’s always been a connection for me to that buzzing and humming musical world. Unfortunately properly articulating that fondness has always eluded me. “I really like the […]

Wolfmother : Victorious

Man, do you remember back in 2005 when Wolfmother dropped their debut album? That glorious mix of proggy, organ-drenched, chunky guitar goodness that reminded us that Uriah Heep were pretty cool(at least Ken Hensley’s bits) and that Robert Plant would’ve sounded pretty damn cool fronting Black Sabbath. Yeah, I remember that self-titled well. There was […]

Mix Tape Masterpiece

I recently acquired my parents old Sanyo dual cassette deck for the purpose of listening to some Debt of Nature cassettes that I happily received in the mail a couple of months ago. Since they hit the mail box I have listened to a couple in the family van as that 2004 relic still has […]

The West Coast Groove

There’s a handful of albums I can put on when I’m feeling like a burning pile of garbage that will instantly make me feel better. Whatever psychological purgatory I may be in will subside for the moment and I’ll feel a little more human. Boards Of Canada’s Geogaddi is one of them. The Beatles Revolver […]
