My first Death Waltz Recording Company soundtrack reissue in awesome translucent red vinyl.
This was one of those movies that got to me. It wasn’t much different than Fulci’s ‘The Gates Of Hell’, ‘The Beyond’, or ‘Zombi’ gore-wise. But the simplicity of the story, mixed with Walter Rizzati’s subtle and haunting score made for an eerie and at times melancholy experience. My 12 year old self felt so anyways. Hell, my nearly 40 year old self thinks so, too.
I think even if you’re not an Italian horror film fan you could still appreciate Rizzati’s score. Fulci was a misogynistic turd. But this film and score stand out as a shining moment for him.
