So I finally snagged a vinyl copy of Melody’s Echo Chamber from a local record store. What a great album. It’s made this Friday night a very good one. The Newcastle Winter IPA has helped as well. But mostly it’s been Melody’s Echo Chamber.
I’ve been listening to the record online for a month or so now, but have been itching to get the vinyl ever since I first heard ‘I Follow You’. It’s like Blonde Redhead, Tame Impala and Lush all rolled into one blissful, psychedelic groove. I plan on writing a full review this weekend, but until then I’ll just say it’s one of my favorite albums to come out this year, right under Tame Impala.
You know, I have to get this off my chest. My town is filled with C.H.U.D.s. First, we had like 10 meth busts in the last two days. Then I read a pastor was molesting a handicapped teen. Some other guy was charged with sexual battery against a friend of his roommate. I live in the C.H.U.D. midwest capital. Despite the horrible things Richard Mourdock said and Mike Pence doesn’t say people will probably still vote for them. And some Uncle Jesse-looking character driving some primo 80s-era Econoline van followed my wife to where she works because he didn’t like her political stance. Hell, even my co worker got flipped the bird because he had a political bumper sticker in his car. If someone thinks differently than you then I guess that gives you the right to yell “FUCK YOU” in their face. That’s great. I guess that’s what our boys are dying for in foreign lands. Our right to yell “FUCK YOU” at someone we don’t agree with. Thank you, men and women of the Armed Forces for fighting violence and oppression in other countries, so that Americans on American soil can oppress other Americans when their opinion differs from their own.
What happened to Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Speech? I mean, here in the midwest we never forget about our right to bear arms and that ‘God’ is on our money, and if someone even attempts to take our guns or God away then that’s the last straw. Don’t infringe on their rights, bub. What about the rights of those that don’t agree with you? I don’t care what you believe, personally. I don’t care what God you worship, what political party you belong to, whether your pro-choice or pro-life, whether you hunt or whether you feel guns should be banned. It’s YOUR opinion. It’s YOUR belief. You’re the one that has to live with it, not me. I have my own beliefs. I have my own set of morals and standards. Don’t call me a socialist, communist, fascist, bleeding heart liberal, homo or faggot because you don’t like ’em. If you want to talk like an adult about our differences, I am always up for a serious conversation. But if all you can do is string a bunch of nonsensical gibberish about what God wants and guns and socialism, then let’s agree to disagree, okay? I have enough respect for others feelings and opinions that I’m not gonna just keep yelling in someone’s face until they yield to my neanderthalic bark.
But hey, let’s get back to beer and music! Woo hoo!!
